Is there a down-side to job hopping?

Many people think that hopping from one job to another in rapid succession is a sure way to the top. But it can have hidden consequences.

In some volatile industries like advertising, television or retailing, job-hopping is the norm. All too often, though, construction executives find out later that a construction resume full of short stints is a turn-off to construction employers, who may suspect a job-hopper of being unable to get along with co-construction executives or finish an assignment.
