Job Description: Position Overview:

WMRA is currently recruiting for a Director of Construction & Demolition recycling position that will be responsible for providing leadership, expertise, and oversight for all research, analysis and formulation of strategic planning and development of activities necessary to launch Waste Management's strategic business priorities (expansion and growth) in the C&D Recycling market.

The successful candidate will develop, implement and maintain an appropriate business model to consistently align with the Waste Management's corporate strategies and deliver on the company's overall growth goals through partnerships, acquisitions, joint ventures and/or technology exchanges.


Responsibilities:

* Leads WMRA's Construction and Demolition recycling business development efforts
* Analyzes market factors, financial data, competitor assessments, technology and other key indicators to formulate financial projections, pro forma statements, feasibility studies and proposals for new C&D Recycling business opportunities.
* Researches and monitors legislative actions impacting the C&D Recycling sector and develops business plans accordingly.
* Provides consultation in the areas of facility start-up, permitting, financing, operations, technical troubleshooting and end-market development
* Creates a vision for the company and plans for implementation of new technical projects, product lines, procurement agreements, and commodity marketing arrangements.
* Develops and integrates individual unit plans and strategies into an overall business development plan to achieve maximum output and contribution to the corporate strategy.
* Dispenses advice, guidance, direction, and authorization to carry out major plans and procedures, consistent with established policies and Board approval.
* Reviews operating results of the organization, compares them to established objectives, and takes steps to ensure that appropriate measures are taken to correct unsatisfactory results.
* Establishes and maintains an effective system of communications throughout the organization.
* Represents organization with major customers, government authorities, shareholders, and the public.
* Other duties as assigned.


Supervisory Responsibilities:

Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include, interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Reports directly to the Vice-President of Operations.


Qualifications:

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of knowledge, skills, and abilities.

* Expertise in consulting with solid waste facilities, construction and demolition debris transfer businesses, processing and recycling facilities, as well as a superior understanding of the C&D business/asset development process.
* Analytical skills and tools to develop creative negotiating strategies, value deals, and technologies and overall proposals in the context of corporate environment needs and objectives.
* Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
* Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
* Excellent leadership, entrepreneurial spirit, interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to multi task and thrive in fast-paced dynamic environment.
* Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, or oral, diagram or schedule form.
* Strong ability to work well with people, under pressure and with stringent time restraints.
* Must exhibit quick problem solving ability.
* Work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to analyze sales, cost of goods, operating expenses, and overhead costs to achieve goals.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills and abilities.
* Good organizational skills and the ability to prioritize work and time.
* To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Project Software.

Minimum of 50% travel is an essential part of the position and includes time spent in a plant environment and meetings with customers and suppliers.

Minimum Education And Experience:

Engineering degree, Masters degree or equivalent degree and 5 - 10 years' related experience specifically in the environmental, waste, or recycle fields or equivalent combination of education and experience.
