Question by AT: How can I get to this career after finishing high school?
I really want to become a Construction Manager when I get older and eventually a Top Construction Executive. Unfortunately I do not know how to prepare myself for these jobs after I graduate from high school. Is anyone familiar with what college I should go to? What degrees or licences I need? Thanks!
I've taken CAD Drafting I and right now I'm in a Drafting II Architecture class

I'd suspect that a degree in Civil Engineering and a MBA would be a good start.
You should also take the EIT exam during your senior year of college so you can get a PE license after 10 years of experience.

At my school they have an upstart major for “Construction Management” and they are getting a ton of funds. You should look into some good schools and seek out a degree – I don’t think you could get very high up there with just a high school degree, but I could be wrong.

well it depends, there are several routes
but the most obvious one is a degree in civil engineering
there are many colleges with decent civil engineering programs

Start by working construction, maybe on summer vacation. Get know the different facets of construction. Choose a field, General Contracting, Electrical, Architecture, Plumbing, and so on. See if you can get into some CAD (Computer Aided Design) classes. Learn from the ground up. Literally, there is a lot of work that may have to go into preparing the ground before building. Geology class would be helpful. To become a “Superintendent” with a construction company, odds are very high that you would have to start at a menial level, until you are certified in some construction discipline. Once you’re a tradesman, then you may be in a position to oversee others, initially as a crew leader or foreman. Then if your great promise is recognized, then you may have the opportunity to oversee some small job on your own. Then you work up to bigger projects. Engineering should figure into your plans and then you won’t have as many steps to consider. I think it will generally pay better and be cleaner work.
